Nepalgunj: Dreamland Hotel to shut down over royalty dispute

Kathmandu, February 11. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has decided to shut down Nepalgunj’s Dreamland Hotel for failing to pay a royalty of Rs 3.8 million for operating a casino buisness.

Despite being asked in writing several times to settle the debts, the Hotel refused to comply, causing the government to initiate action against it. It was shut at the direction of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale. 

The permission was granted to the Happy Hour on 5th September, 2010 for running a mini casino  at the hotel. According to Minister Ale, the casino license has also been revoked.According to reports, the Nepal Police Headquarters was urged to close the hotel.
