Mounting Concerns over Peace and Security as the Risk of Infection in the Police Force Rises
Kathmandu. There is growing concern about the maintenance of peace and security as the number of corona infected is increasing steadily among the personnel in the Nepal Police. As cases have been on the rise, the Police Headquarters has directed all to be on high vigil.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, there have been discussions among the top-tier officers regarding ways of attenuation of the spread of infection. Nepal Police has concluded that the risk of infection has increased due to the job nature of the police of maintaining peace and security and that the lack of health protective equipment has been increasing the risk of infection. As the entire barrack has to be sealed if police personnel on duty is found infected and others have to be deployed there from a different station, the maintenance of peace and security can be difficult.
“The police is always working on the front line. Whatever safety measures is applied, there is always a risk of infection,” central spokesperson of the Nepal Police Kuber Kadayat said. The organization with highest number of infected is Nepal police.
After the government has eased the prohibitory order, crowds have begun thronging malls and markets and the vehicular traffic too has escalated. A police officer at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu opines that this has increased the responsibility of the police and made them more prone to infection as well.
