Hem-Sarita Foundation announces $10,000 scholarship
Washington DC. Philanthropists and anti-corruption activists Hem Pathak and Sarita Pathak, through the Hem-Sarita Foundation, have declared to award a student of South Asian origin, studying in the United States, a scholarship of 10 thousand dollars.
Chief trustee of the foundation Hem Pathak told DCNepal that the motive of the scholarship was to help diligent but economically distraught students from South Asia, studying in American Universities. One student from among the students enrolled at undergraduate level as undocumented international students would be selected for the award.
Chairperson of the foundation Jenny Pathak informed that students admitted in the spring session of 2021 would be eligible for the first selection process and that a special committee would select one student per academic calendar for the scholarship.
There are strings attached, however. The awardee must maintain a very strong academic record; otherwise, the scholarship is provided to a more deserving one in the next semester.
The Hem-Sarita Pathak Foundation has been working in Nepal, constructing school buildings for students in poverty-stricken areas and running schools for the poor. The foundation also campaigns for the bolstering of moral values among Nepali people, conducting anti-corruption song and poetry competitions.
