Nepali arrested: ‘spying’ for China against India

Kathmandu. Delhi Police have arrested a Nepali citizen on the pretext of providing classified information to China. Previously, on Friday, Indian Police had informed about a freelance journalist Rajeev Sharma being arrested. The police have also informed of the arrest of a Nepali man and a Chinese woman in the same case.

On Friday evening, the police had informed about the arrest of journalist Rajeev Sharma residing in Pitampura, accusing him of spying for China. Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police(Special Cell) Sajeev Kumar Yadav has informed that cases would be filed against all three under the Official Secrets Act for spying.

According to the “special cell”, the police had arrested journalist Rajeev Sharma after he was found offering a large sum to a Chinese woman and her Nepali associate. “Rajeev Sharma had been ordered to extract confidential information in exchange of a hefty sum,” Yadav told “The police have seized a large number of cell phones, laptops and other sensitive materials related to the case from his possession.”

Journalist Sharma had worked for a news agency and an English daily operating from Punjab.
