Kathmandu. Nepal Police have formed a committee to probe on the incident of police’s manhandling of general public at Maitighar on 17 and 18 September.

People had gathered at Maitighar demanding the reappointment of Kulman Ghishing as the managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA). An obstruction was created on the streets by the protesting crowd, to deter which the police had used force. After people raised voices against police atrocity there, a three-member probe committee under SSP Kiran Bajracharya has been formed by Kathandu Metropolitan Police.

“The committee has one week time to make the findings,” DIG Bishwaraj Pokharel, Chief of Metropolitan Police Office Ranipokhari, informed.

The police have formed this committee after a video of police personnel mercilessly thrashing Bablu Gupta, chairman of the ‘Hundred Group’, became viral in social networking sites.
