Two types of drugs manufactured by Russia to be made available in pharmaceutical stores
Two drugs which can supposedly be used in the treatment of coronavirus have been accepted to be sold in pharmaceutical stores. According to The Moscow Times, the Russian health ministry shared the news through a statement to government news agencies.
As per the news report the medicine named “areplivir” will be made available in almost all Russian pharmacies from Monday whereas another medicine “koronavir” will be also made available soon. According to R-Farm, the pharmaceutical company which will be producing “koronavir”, this medicine helps to fight the complexities related to the disease. Within trials it showed that 50% of the patients who received the drugs recovered faster than those who did not. This recovery rate was 1.5 times faster than those who do not use medications.
Both medicines are said to be the Russian version of the medicine “favipiravir”, which was modified to be used for the cure of the disease. This medicine has its origins in Japan where it was first marketed as Japan’s contribution to the world for treating Covid-19. Also called Avigan, the drug did not gain further approval and the trials yielded “inconclusive” results.
The medicines now being approved for distribution is said to reduce the time of recovery for corona patients. China, India and Russia have given their approval for this medicine to be rolled out.
