All should unite for border security: Home Minister Thapa

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa opines that border security can be done more effectively by the locals than by the security personnel. At a press conference in Khalanga, he mentioned, “The government can’t protect the border alone, but needs the support of its citizens for better protection.”
The Home Minister commented that the northern area of Darchula is of strategic importance. He stated that the government has given special importance to this area because it borders China and India, and also as it holds great potential for tourism. He further added that the necessary decision would be taken shortly for the establishment of immigration, and additional telephone lines would be connected in Vyas for effective communication facilities.
Thapa was accompanied by Shailendra Khanal who is the IGP of the Armed Police Force, Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane, Darchula MP Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Political Advisor Surya Subedi, Security Advisor Indrajit Rai, Nepal Army Assistant Pawan Raj Ghimire and AIG of the Armed Police Force Ram Sharan Poudel.
