Kathmandu. Israeli human rights activists are all set to assist in the international campaign for the protection of human and civil rights in Kashmir. They have raised voices against the government’s decision and have filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the “counter-terror warfare” training being provided to the Indian police.

The petition seeks to prevent the country’s security forces from training Indian police officers involved in “severe violations” of human rights and international law in Indian-administered Kashmir.

“With this petition, we are trying our best to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir,” Israeli human rights activist Sigal Kook Avivi, who was among 40 people behind the petition, told Al Jazeera.

The Israel Police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that pre-screening police officers participating in the training is beyond their capacity.

Activists are dissatisfied with the Israeli government’s intention to defend its economic and political interests at all costs. The State of Israel had closed its eyes to crimes against humanity and genocide against the Muslim Rohingya minority and provided military and political support to Myanmar in recent times. The India police training is another such instance.
