Nepalese arrested on charges of spying for China in Indian judicial custody

Kathmandu. A Nepali man arrested on charges of spying for China has been remanded in judicial custody by a court in New Delhi, India. Freelance journalist Rajiv Sharma, a Chinese woman named Qing Xi and a Nepali national Raj Bohara, alias Sher Singh were remanded in judicial custody by the court on Sunday.

According to a report by DNA India, the time allotted by the court for their earlier investigation was coming to an end on Sunday evening. Earlier, Bohara was produced in the court at 10:45 pm on Sunday. Journalist Rajiv Sharma was arrested on September 14 earlier this month. A case was registered against him under the government’s secrecy law the following day. He is faced with accusations of working for a Chinese intelligence agency. It is alleged that Xi and her Nepali counterpart transferred large sums of money to Sharma.
