A Nepalese jailed for abducting a girl in Gujrat, India
Kathmandu. A case of abduction, which occurred 18 years back, had its hearing today in a Gujrat sessions court. According to the Press Trust of India, a Nepalese national named Birendra Setawala was sentenced for three years of imprisonment for abducting a girl. He was arrested from Thane, Maharastra three years ago.
Navat Pravin Syed, session judge for the court delivered a verdict, sentencing the man to 3 years of imprisonment and INR 2000 fine. He has been arrested on the crime of abducting a 16-year-old girl in 2002. He is booked under the IPC section 366 of abduction and forceful marriage.
It has been that the girl ran away with the accused in 2002. When the family found her, the man threatened them to back off. The Gujrat and Maharastra police successfully saved her after a few months when she contacted her sister and told her about their whereabouts.
