Bhalubang to be the capital of Province No. 5
Kathmandu.
It has been decided that Bhalubang (also called Bhaluwang) of Dang will be the capital of Province No. 5. A minister stated that the cabinet meeting within the province has finalized the decision, settling a prolonged dispute over the matter.
During a meeting between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday, it was agreed that Bhalubang would be the capital of the province. The cabinet meeting was held soon after the top leaders reached an agreement.
The disagreement was between Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel, who was in favor of Dang, and Secretary of Provincial Assembly Durlabh Kumar Pun Magar, in favor of Butwal for the capital. It has been said that Pokhrel’s goodwill with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Oli helped in making Bhalubang the capital.
