Locals of Chhangru, Darchula relieved from having to use Indian land

Kathmandu. After years of waiting, locals of Chhangru, Byas Municipality-1 of Darchula are able to visit the district headquarters using the road in Nepali land. This has eased their journey and made them free of the compulsion to use the Indian route.
Nepal Army has opened the Ghantibagad-Chhangru trail and handed it over to the local level after its completion. This trail has made it comfortable for the people to travel along the Mahakali River on the Nepali side.
Nepal Army spokesperson Santosh Ballav Poudel informed that the recently completed trail has ended the limitation of having to use foreign land to reach parts of own country.
After four months of continuous toil, the Nepal Army was able to complete the project of reopening the trail, clearing it of obstructions. The locals of Chhnangru were forced to travel from the Indian side as Nepal lacked any route linking Chhangru to the mainland. This misery lasted for three years, until the recent development.
The trail is 2m wide and 550m long. Nepal Army had to work in adverse climatic conditions and use explosives to pave a route in the rocky terrain. The total cost came around 18 million 636 thousand rupees.
184 households of the region are expected to benefit from the operation of the trail.
