Study of Rhinos being carried out after natural death rate increases
Chitwan. The Chitwan National Park has decided to conduct a study on the rhinos, as the natural death rates have been increasing. According to the Chief Conservation Officer, Mr. Annath Baral, and the Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, Dr. Pem Narayan Kandel, they will be collaborating with the National Trust for Nature Conservation to carry out the study.
In the past two months, one rhino was killed by poaching and seven rhinos died by natural causes. The previous fiscal year saw 43 rhinos dying due to natural causes, whereas, 26 rhinos have died so far this year. Rhinos usually die by fighting with each other, or because of other natural calamities.
To reduce the deaths caused by natural causes and bring it down to zero, the study has been deemed necessary to be carried out. Details on the exact date of the commencement of the study are yet to be revealed by the authorities.
