Nepal Police for special security plan in view of festival, COVID-19
Kathmandu, Oct 10. The Police Headquarters has directed the police chiefs in Kathmandu Valley, state and districts to formulate special security plan in view of COVID-19 and approaching festivals and implement accordingly.
As per the direction of Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa Chhetri, all 77 district police offices have begun devising the special security plan considering both the COVID-19 and the festival approaching, according to Police Spokesperson SSP Kuber Kadayat. Some of the districts reported that they already formulated the plan.
“Police always have security plan, but during special occasion as festival and critical challenges as the spread of coronavirus, special security arrangement is necessary. Additional patrolling, police posts and border checks are required,” he said.
According to him, IGP Thapa Chhetri had directed the chiefs of various police offices in state and Kathmandu Valley via virtual meeting for necessary plan and strategy.
How the people can be prevented from the growing spread of coronavirus in 77 districts is also equal focus this time. Police persons would be mobilized in plainclothes as part of the implementation of the special security plan.
Meanwhile, police chief in the Kathmandu Valley have planned to make joint security plan. The Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, shared the information to this end.
Chief of Metropolitan Police Office, DIG Bishworaj Pokhrel, said chiefs of all three district police offices in the valley were asked to submit the security plan. “The plan stresses peace and security considering the festival and measures to contain the spread of coronavirus,” he added.
According to him, new plans will enhance the morale of police, ignoring all kinds of wrong influence against the ethics and public expectations. Police are coming with special programmes not to let any kinds of untoward incidents during the festival, he added.
Pokhrel also shared that the police personnel will get meals in the respective police office as they will not be allowed going homes for meal due to pandemics.
Similarly, SSP Shyam Lal Gyawali shared that integrated security plan was being prepared to implement in the Kathmandu valley districts. He also shared that the trained dogs and drone were the additional features of the integrated security plans this year.
Similarly, Traffic Police Chief SSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal informed that the traffic police were mobilized to manage the traffics and conduct emergency check in necessary places as in ticket counters of bus parks. Some of the wrong doers are being brought to justice, he added. (RSS)
