After the 16th childbirth, both mother and infant die
Kathmandu. A 45-year-old woman died after giving birth to her 16th child, while being taken to a health facility for treatment, as their condition became critical. Seven of the woman’s children have passed away and now, with the death of her infant son, only eight of her 16 children remain.
According to the Press Trust of India, the deceased woman was from the Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh. The woman, Sukhrani Ahirwar of Padajhir village, that falls under the Batiyagarh Police Station area of the district, had given birth to a son as her 16th child at home on Saturday. Shortly after the birth, their condition became serious, and the mother and the newborn were taken to a health facility. However, both the woman and the child died on the way to the hospital.
Sukhrani, who has given birth to 16 children, is survived by 4 sons and 4 daughters as the remaining eight have already passed away. Two of her children are married. Regarding the incident, the Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr. Sangeeta Trivedi has ordered an immediate inquiry. The supervisor of the sector has also been suspended.
