‘Strict laws will be brought against rape’, says Prime Minister Oli
Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has pledged that his government is determined to bring down the level of crimes occurring in the country, be it murder, violence, any extremity or social crime. He has pledged that strict laws will be brought against rape, just as laws were brought against acid attacks in the nation.
Prime Minister Oli spoke at the 65th Police Day ceremony at the police headquarters in Kathmandu, encouraging the policemen to take strict and immediate action against such brutal crimes. He additionally stated that, “Rape is a reprehensible crime that is against humanity; government is working towards bringing stricter crimes against it. The government won’t stand any hideous activities in the name of reconciliation.”
He also mentioned that crimes have now crossed borders and the networks have spread around the world, posing new challenges for the policemen. He further added that national unity, sovereignty and integrity must be maintained for a peaceful and prosperous Nepal.
Oli praised Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa for his efforts to combat COVID-19 as it has posed new challenges and threats, and commented his efforts in tackling the problem with a strong feeling of fearlessness.
