Nepali in Texas suffers brain hemorrhage at workplace, still unconscious after 18 days

Texas (US). Rup Singh Gurung, a Nepali working at a restaurant in Austin, Texas has suffered a massive brain hemorrhage. 54-year-old Rupa Singh has not gained consciousness even after 18 days of the incident.

He was taken to St David’s Medical Center immediately from the workplace where he is undergoing treatment at the ICU.

Dev Raj Neupane, a social worker in Austin informed DCNepal that his family members are in the process to acquire visa to come to the US. He added that the doctors have feared that Gurung might suffer from paralysis or lose his speech after recovering his consciousness.

Rup Singh hails from Syangja. His family lives in Budhibazaar. Pokhara, Nepal. Nepalis living in Austin are looking after his medical care as he is alone in Texas. He is under the supervision of a Nepali doctor working at the hospital.

Another Nepali, Umesh Neupane,  residing in Austin, who had been seriously injured by a shot in the stomach by burglars, is being treated at Dell Seton Medical center. He has undergone three major surgeries, including one that of the kidneys. He is being treated in the ICU of the hospital.

According to Dev Raj Neupane, Nepalis living in Austin have started raising fund for the treatment of these two hospitalized Nepalis. The Nepali community, with a view to help in their treatment financially, has begun the ‘Go fund me’ campaign. The collected amount will be divided equally between the two.
