Kathmandu.  According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), the temple management committee and the priests have stopped worshiping at the Guheshwari temple. It was a tradition of PADT to hold special worship at the temple on the day of Ghatsthapana, marking the commencement of Dashain festival every year. Treasurer Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa informed that the management committee, priests Jain Karmacharya and Ram Krishna Dangol did not allow other priests and employees to worship on behalf of PADT.

Allegedly, the management committee was not allowed to worship surrounding the clarification sought regarding the amount of gold in the temple. As the committee did not give a satisfactory answer, PADT has stated that it is preparing for further investigation. The committee, however, said that the gold supposedly corroded due to offerings such as Panchamrit, eggs and alcohol in the temple.

The temples of Guheshwari and Chabahil are not under the coverage of PADT. Due to this, the locals have complained about irregularities in the temples and the adjoining public lands. Member Secretary of PADT Dr. Pradip Dhakal says that preparations are ongoing to include all the temples in Pashupati area under PADT.
