Global COVID-19 cases nearing 40 million, about 400,000 new cases on Saturday
Washington, US. According to the latest updates provided by Johns Hopkins University, the global coronavirus tally has reached near 40 million mark, with around 400,000 new cases on Saturday.
The University tracker has recorded a total of 39,502,909 COVID-19 cases, with 1,106,705 deaths globally. 27,148,927 patients infected from the virus have recovered worldwide.
The US is the worst-affected country with the coronavirus. It had the most daily infections on Saturday, with 63,044 new cases. As of Saturday, the country has registered 8,086,780 total confirmed cases, the highest worldwide. The US also has the highest number of fatalities in the world with 218,980 deaths.
India and Brazil are the second and third most-affected countries from the virus. India reported 62,212 new cases on Saturday, the second largest daily increase globally, which has increased the country’s total tally to 7,432,680 as of Saturday . Brazil follows with d 5,200,300 cases, whereas Russia is fourth on the list with 1,376,020 cases.
The COVID-19 infection graph is rising and setting new records everyday in the absence of an effective medication. The COVID-19 vaccines are being tested in several parts of the world.
