Tsunami waves noticed after 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Alaska
Kathmandu. A massive 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit Alaska, USA, today, generating a small-scale tsunami.. The epicenter of the quake was recorded near Sand Point of Alaska.
Scot Langley of National Tsunami Warning Center, told that two waves, which measured 4 feet, 3 inches in height, were noticed after the quake. The center is monitoring harbors in a 500-mile area along the Alaska coastline, according to Langley.
A tsunami warning had been issued after the earthquake but later had been downgraded to an advisory. Earlier, evacuation orders had been given and people in some areas were seen moving towards elevated areas.
Several aftershocks, including one with a magnitude of 5.9 and another with 5.8, were recorded.
