Ilam. After the police received complaints of transport businesses charging double fares from the passengers, a joint team of the District Administration Office, Traffic Management Service Office, Traffic Office, District Police Office and media persons have started strict monitoring on the roads of Ilam Municipality-7, Dhobidhara.
Head of the Traffic Police Office in Ilam, Yogendra Dahal informed that a total of 113 vehicles, including motorcycles, taxis, buses and autos were inspected on Wednesday, from which a total of Rs. 5000 was collected.
Addressing the problem faced by the transport companies due to the low flow of passengers amid the pandemic, the government had issued a rule to take up to 1.5 times the fixed fare. However, passengers from rural areas have complained about paying double the set fares.
The Traffic Police Office in Ilam has made an appeal to the passengers, drivers, vehicle owners, and the general public to make arrangements for safe travel throughout the festive season. RSS
