Volunteer dies in trials of coronavirus vaccine conducted by Oxford University

Kathmandu. A 28-year-old volunteer for the coronavirus vaccine trial has died on Wednesday. The volunteer was a resident of Rio de Janerio.

The vaccine was developed by both AstraZeneca and Oxford University. The details regarding the cause of the death was not revealed due to medical confidentiality. Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has announced that the trials will continue even after the volunteer’s death. The phase three trials were being co-ordinated with the help of The Federal University of Sao Paulo.

The news of the volunteer’s death has brought down the shares of AstraZeneca by 1.7%.
