Large quantity of illegal firecrackers seized at Nagdhunga

Kathmandu. The police is strictly monitoring Kathmandu bound vehicles at Nagdhunga for the illegal import of firecrackers to the valley. They have seized large units of illegal firecrackers from Naagdhunga check point.
In a regular security check on Sunday, in a bus (Na 7 Kha 455) coming from Mahendranagar, the police found 10 sacks full of firecrackers hidden beneath the seats. They seized 266 thousand units of firecrackers in total, the market value of which amounted to around one million thirty thousand rupees. The bus driver, 30-year-old Nabin Josh,i was arrested in the case.
On Monday, in a similar security check at Nagdhunga, police seized a large number of firecrackers of different varieties from a bus, registration number Na 6 Kha 7114, bound to Kathmandu from Gaur. The contraband belonged to Pintu Jaishwal of Rautahat, according to Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot.
The firecrackers had been brought to Kathmandu targeting the upcoming Tihar festival., preliminary report of the police investigation says.
Both cases are being investigated for offences related to explosives under the Civil Criminal Code -2074.
