Government serious on Dehradun incident: MoFA

Kathmandu. The government has received information through the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi over the incident of the mistreatment of Nepali students studying in Dehradun, Uttaranchal State of India by the school authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA)  has said the government was serious on the incident and that the incident was not like the one reported in Nepali media. 10 Nepali students were beaten in the school and the school was willing to send the students home for the festivals, as per the MoFA’s information.

Spokesperson at the ministry, Sewa Lamsal,  said, “A discussion was held with the concerned officials including the chairperson of the Child Rights Commission in Uttarakhand State. The school administration apologized for the incident and made commitment to not let it happen again.”

Lamsal further said that the MoFA and the Nepali Embassy in India were working in close coordination with the concerned authority. She added that the MoFA was ready  to facilitate in the case if urged by the parents.
