Preparations halted for cabinet restructuring
Surkhet. The restructuring of the Council of Ministers, previously scheduled for Sunday in the Karnali Province has been stopped. According to a trusted source, Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi is preparing to appoint three people as ministers from former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal’s side by forcing two people close to Prime Minister Oli to resign.
After Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), asked of them to not submit their resignation, the two Ministers, Bhim Bahadur Rawal and Nanda Singh Budha expressed that they would not resign but would step down. Sources claim that preparations for the cabinet reorganization was halted due to their stand.
A no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Shahi was prepared by 18 lawmakers who are members of the NCP, led by Yam Lal Kandel, who is considered to be quite close to the Prime Minister. After the rift within the ruling party in Karnali, the Prime Minister called the leaders from the area and held a discussion in Kathmandu.
