Kathmandu. The Facebook owned WhatsApp is all set to introduce a new feature known as “disappearing messages”. The feature will be launched with one of the upcoming updates.

According to an article in The Indian Express, WhatsApp users can enable the feature manually once it is launched. But the users will not be able to customize the time for the feature. ‘Disappearing messages’ is a feature in which the messages will disappear within seven days if it isn’t opened. However, if the user hasn’t cleared it from the notification center, the message will remain.

WhatsApp will also allow the forward or screenshot of the disappearing messages. If the user’s chat has been backed up, then one could find their conversations saved in his/her Google drive.

The article further quotes wabetainfo in noting that, “When you reply to a message, the initial message is quoted. If you reply to a disappearing message, the quoted text might remain in the chat after seven days. If a disappearing message is forwarded to a chat with disappearing messages off, the message won’t disappear in the forwarded chat.”

The ‘disappearing message’ feature will be available in iOS, Android, KaiOS and Web/ Desktop users.
