Survey of India to be called for demarcation of India-Nepal border
Kathmandu. The District Administration Office in Champawat of Uttarakhand in India is preparing to send a letter to the Survey of India (SOI), asking them to coordinate and collaborate with the Survey Department of Nepal, in order to solve issues related to the demarcation of the Nepal-India border land.
According to The New Indian Express, the issue arose on July 22, when some Nepali residents had built around 23 wood and concrete structures in the land spanning about 150 square meters that India claims to be no man’s land on its side. The issue became controversial when both the Nepali and Indian authorities started getting involved in the debate.
After the issue was raised, the Nepali authorities, Chief district officer and Superintendent of Police of Armed Police Force of the Kanchanpur district in Nepal visited the site in the Brahmdev village to talk with the locals and survey the area.
