Kathmandu. The visit of Indian Army Chief, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, to Nepal is taking place tomorrow. Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist Leninist) General Secretary CP Mainali, has denoted his dissatisfaction regarding the visit by issuing a press release on Tuesday.

Mainali has argued that the army chief should not be given the honorary title of General as his past comments have infringed Nepal’s sovereignty.

Naravane had given a statement a few months ago hinting that Nepal brought out the new map under someone else’s influence. Criticizing his statement, Mainali says that honoring each other’s army chief is such a tradition that should be stopped immediately. As per that tradition, Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, General Purna Chandra Thapa has already been conferred with the honor by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

Naravane will be decorated by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday.

The visit of Indian army chief is said to open new doors for Nepal-India diplomacy as the bilateral relations has soured due to the border dispute.
