COAS Thapa and Indian Army Chief Naravane start bilateral talks

Kathmandu, November 5. The Chief of the Indian Army General Manoj Mukund Naravane inspected the guard of honor presented to him by a contingent of the Nepali Army at a ceremony held at the Army Headquarters today. The Indian Army Chief arrived here on Wednesday on a three-day visit at the formal invitation of Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa.

General Naravane planted a walnut sapling on the precincts of the Army Headquarters, after which, COAS Thapa and the Indian Army Chief have begun official talks.

Earlier, General Naravane visited the Bir Smarak at the Army pavilion, Tundikhel and offered tribute. He will hand over medical goods to the Nepali Army at the Army Headquarters after a while as per the agreement reached in the 13th  meeting on exchange of security cooperation between the two countries.

General Naravane has come to Nepal to accept the rank of honorary General of the Nepali Army in keeping with the tradition of the Nepali and the Indian Army of conferring the rank of honorary General on each other’s Chief of the Army Staff.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to confer the rank of honorary General on the Indian COAS General Naravane on Thursday. General Naravane is the 18th Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army to be accorded the rank of honorary General. (RSS)
