COVID-19 around the world: 568 thousand infections in the last 24 hours
Kathmandu. The rate of coronavirus infection across the world is increasing each day. In the last 24 hours, more than 568 thousand COVID-19 infections have been reported worldwide. At the same time, the total number of people infected so far has reached 48.41 million. More than 1.22 million people have died from the virus worldwide including 9,000 in the past 24 hours alone, as per Worldometer. According to the statistics, 31.8 million people from around the globe have won the battle with the novel coronavirus.
The number of infected people in the United States has reached close to 10 million with the addition of more than 100 thousand new infections in the past day. Similarly, in India, 50,465 COVID-19 infections have been added in the last 24 hours. With the addition of the newly infected, the total number of infected has reached 8.36 million. More than 124 thousand people have died in India so far, including 700 in the past 24 hours.
In France, where the number of active cases has risen in recent days, more than 40 thousand coronavirus infections have been reported in the past 24 hours leading the total number of people infected to be more than 1.54 million. So far 38,674 people have died in France while there are 1.38 million active cases.
Italy, which once had minimal infections, has seen the number of re-infections on the rise. In the last 24 hours, more than 30 thousand new infections have been identified making the total number 790 thousand. In the UK and Spain, more than 25 thousand COVID-19 infections have been reported since yesterday. More than 24 thousand people have been infected in Poland while the number amounted to 23 thousand in Brazil within the past day.
