Landslide in Kaligandaki corridor kills five at Nawalpur
Nawalparasi. A landslide in the Nawalpur section (Bardaghat, Susta east) of the Kaligandaki corridor has killed five workers on Wednesday evening. The deceased were working on the Bulingtar Rural Municipality section of the Kaligandaki corridor.
Chief of District Police Office, Nawalpur Prakash Malla confirmed the death of the five workers. A dry slide had buried them while they were working on a gabion wall.
All deceased hail from Buligtar-4 and have been identified as Gopal Garanja,20, Chet Bahadur Aslami Magar and Tara Bahadur Lungeli, Tul Bahadur Saru, 28, and Sun Bahadur Pulami., 42.
Two other injured Krishna Lungeli, 21, and Kewal Singh Lungeli, 19, were rescued by other workers. They are undergoing treatment in Bharatpur, police said.
EKK Construction Company of India has received the road contract, whereas the local contractor for that section of the Kali Gandaki corridor is Lohani Construction of Bharatpur.
