India launches a rocket with 10 satellites

The Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) successfully launched its PSLV-C49 rocket on its 51th mission today afternoon. The rocket carried the latest earth observation satellite (EOS-01) along with 9 other foreign satellites.

The rocket was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, barrier island off the Bay of Bengal coast at 3:12pm IST. According to ISRO officials, The EOS-01 earth observation satellite is equipped with the latest imaging equipment that will be operated for the support in the field of agriculture, forestry and disaster management.

The satellite will orbit the earth in a 575km circular path.
