‘Deusi-Bhailo’ prohibited in Nuwakot this year
Nuwakot. Deusi-Bhailo has been ruled out of this festive season fearing the probability of spreading coronavirus. Following the decision of the meeting of the District Crisis Management Center held at the District Administration Office, Nuwakot on Sunday, Chief District Officer Jhanka Nath Dhakal has issued a prohibitory order from November 11 until further notice.
The hospitals providing special service in Kathmandu are overcrowded with COVID-19 patients while the availability of ICU and ventilator services is inadequate. Chief District Officer Dhakal has said that deusi-bhailo will not be allowed this year as a ban has been issued on religious, cultural and group gatherings in the district.
Throughout the restricted period, the market area will be kept open to run daily businesses as usual and the operation of vehicles will be maintained abiding strictly by the standards of health safety. A police team along with local representatives has been given the responsibility to monitor the compliance of health security standards.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Nuwakot has reached 619 to date. 288 people have recovered while 329 are still infected. As per Uttam Raj Khanal, information officer at the District Health Office, Nuwakot, 7 actively infected people have been kept in isolation at Trishuli Hospital while the remaining 322 are observing home isolation under the supervision of a doctor.
