Kathmandu. The recently reconstructed Rani Pokhari holds immense cultural and natural importance. The ancient structure was constructed by King Pratap Malla in 1665 C.E. to please his Queen, who was mourning the death of their son, Chakravartendra Malla. The structure looks immensely majestic and attractive after the reconstruction.
The previous structure was destroyed by the massive earthquake on April 2015. President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated the reconstructed Rani Pokhari on October 21. It was reconstructed by the National Reconstruction Authority.
