NCP and NC meetings today: Will they be able to resolve the problems?
Kathmandu., The Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the main opponent Nepali Congress (NC) have coincided today. The NCP meeting is being held at 4 pm, wheras the NC meeting begins at 1 pm.
Both the ruling NCP and the major opponent NC are going through turbulent times; hence, the meetings are considered to be immensely important. They are expected to show proper directions to both the parties so that they can move ahead leaving their confusions and complications behind.
In the NCP, there is a tussle between the groups of party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his fellow Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and in the NC, factions of President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel have unsettled disputes.
Prime Minister Oli has called the Secretariat meeting after a long denial. The five members of the NCP Secretariat have met at Prachanda’s residence in Khumaltar on Thursday and decided to face PM Oli jointly. However, they have not disclosed the details of the strategy they have prepared against PM Oli. It is assumed that the presentation of the five secretariat members today will set the future direction for the NCP.
The NC debate has settled to some extent, but the date for the party’s general convention has not been confirmed yet, which has put a cloud of uncertainty over the NC’s CWC meeting today. If the meeting of the NC office-bearers today morning reaches an understanding regarding the convention date, today’s meeting will most probably finalize the date for the NC general convention.
