Heavy Clash between India and Pakistan along LoC
Amid India's standoff with China along the LAC in Ladakh, Pakistan has increased the number of ceasefire violations this year with a total of 4,052 violations this year
Kathmandu. A day after India blamed Pakistan for hiding information related to the 26/11 Mumbai attack, on Friday, India retaliated against an unprovoked ceasefire violation and shelling from across the border in Line of Control (LoC) killing at least 8 Pakistani soldiers and injuring 16 others.
According to Indian Army, heavy cross border firing was triggered when Pakistan initiated the “unprovoked” ceasefire. As a result, a large number of Pakistan Army bunkers, fuel dumps and launch pads were destroyed during the multiple ceasefire violations between Gurez and Uri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian side also bore the loss of army personnel, a BSF sub-inspector and six civilians.
After India and Pakistan gained independence from Britain in 1947, both have claimed Kashmir in its entirety for which they have been engaging in a vicious war. This year, the relations between India and Pakistan has been further deteriorating with regards to Kashmir. The capturing of India’s Air Commander Abhinandan Varthaman by Pakistan in February, followed by the latest controversy regarding the release, has caused further tension between the two countries.
The Indian government recently released its stats that indicate that amid India’s standoff with China along the LAC in Ladakh, Pakistan has increased the number of ceasefire with a total of 4,052 violations this year which is higher than that of last year’s count of 3,233.
