Dustin Johnson wins Masters, sets scoring record
Washington. Dustin Johnson of the United States won the Augusta Golf Masters title on Sunday and became the first world No. 1 to win the event since Woods in 2001. This is Johnson’s second career major title after the 2016 US Open.
Johnson shot a four-under-par 68 on Sunday to finish off the tournament at 20-under 268, five strokes clear of Australian Cameron Smith and Im Sung-jae of South Korea.
The event which was postponed from April due to the COVID-19 pandemic, did not see fans for the first time in history, but it was no less memorable as Johnson set a scoring record at 20 under par, which was two strokes better than the former record held jointly by Tiger Woods in 1997 and Jordan Spieth in 2015.
“It feels like a dream,” Johnson said. “As a kid, you’re dreaming about winning the Masters. It’s just incredible. I couldn’t be more excited.”
