Kathmandu. Deputy Mayor of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City Laxmi Gautam arranged ‘tika’ for those in COVID-19 isolation center in Itahari on the occasion of Bhai Tika yesterday.  She offered ‘tika’ to the security and health care personnel herself.

Deputy Mayor Gautam informed that the COVI-19 infected males received ‘tika’ from other corona positive females in the isolation center. “We are representatives of the people and we should be involved in their joys and pains,” she said.

“We all want to be at our homes with our family members during festivals. However, they are here, serving the sick during the pandemic. We have to help them and try to make them feel better,” Gautam said. “Tears welled up in their eyes at our gesture of appreciation for their work.”

Deputy Mayor Gautam believed that her initiation eased the pain of separation from families among those in the isolation center to some extent. She had also arranged for the Dashain ‘tika’ program at the center earlier.
