Texas, USA.Thousands of people lined up for groceries with cars queuing up in four lines extending to several miles outside of Fair Park on Saturday morning, for the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) food distribution event in Dallas, Texas.

The NTFB event saw 600,000 pounds of food given away to 25000 people. 7,280 turkeys were distributed to families and each family was handed 20 pounds of non-perishables, 15 pounds of fresh produce and bags of wheat bread during the distribution.

Spokeswoman for NTFB Anna Kurian noted that since Texas is one of the states  with the highest infection rate, people’s need for food has increased.

A woman waiting in a car for her turn proved Kurian’s opinion: “I haven’t been working since December. I can’t find a job, they cut off my unemployment — it’s a big deal. It’s a real big deal.”

NTFB President Trisha Cunningham told CNN that she was proud of her team and the community for providing some hope and care during these extraordinary times.
