Kabita’s relatives told that she had been rescued under the President’s Women Upliftment Program and her treatment started immediately after she reached Kathmandu, The child is safe in the mother’s womb, as confirmed by the hospital source.
After the initiation of the President’s Women Upliftment Program to airlift and rescue pregnant women of remote regions, more than half dozen women of the district have been able to receive proper treatment in better facilities. Earlier, residents of the 10 local levels of the district had to charter helicopters of private airlines at exorbitant rates.
The free service provided by Nepal government has helped the poor families. Moreover, now women don’t have to face untimely deaths caused by pregnancy complications due to lack of proper medical care.
