New Positions for one AIG and five DIGs created in Nepal Police
Kathmandu. Nepal government has added one more position for Additional Inspector General (AIG) and five positions for Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police. The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday had approved the additional positions of Nepal Police.
The plan to increase the number of DIGs had been in limbo because of the confusion regarding the new AIG post. The office of the new AIG will be at the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari.
The government had promoted Hari Bahadur Pal, Niraj Shahi and Pradhyumna Karki to the posts of AIG, all batch mates of current Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shailesh Thapa Chhetri. From among the DIGs, one more will be promoted to the post of AIG of Nepal Police, now. DIG Bishwaraj Pokharel of the Metropolitan Police Office is the first in the line as regards seniority; however, Shahakul Thapa and Dhiraj Pratap Singh will also be vying for the post.
Since the past three months, posts of three DIGs have remained vacant in Nepal Police. With five more positions created, 12 Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) will be contending for the promotion to eight DIG positions.
