It was a premediated disruption: Surendra Pandey
Kathmandu. The effect of the tussle at the central level of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has started to be seen at local levels too. On Saturday, some youths at Rapti Municipality of Chitwan tried to disturb a program in which a Member of Legislative Assembly from the constituency, Surendra Pandey, was a guest.
The whole thing had been preplanned, Pandey said. He informed DCNepal through telephone, “It was a small ward committee program and not a large assemblage. I was about to finish my speech when they started shouting slogans.”
“I was nearing the end my speech and telling that there had been unanimous decision to stop programs by organizations like Madan Bhandari Foundation and Pushpa Lal Foundation as they were promoting groupism within the party, suddenly, some youths started slogans like “long live Madan Bhandari Foundation”, “long live KP Oli” and so on,” Pandey added.
He noted that Saturday’s incident was completely nonpolitical and that such incidences could bring problems in the party.
The discontent between the two chairs of NCP – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ – has even led to rumors of the splitting of NCP. Leader Surendra Pandey is considered being close to leader Madhav Kumar Nepal who is on Prachanda’s side of the NCP at present. A few months back, when there was a heated debate in the party regarding the leadership of PM Oli, student group close to KP Sharma Oli had displayed their protest in the streets in his support.
