Kathmandu. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) on Friday updated the profile of CoronaVirus Disease 2019 in its web portal, which indicates that more than 50% of the viral transmission is through asymptomatic patients.
According to a study by the CDC:
- 24% of people who transmit the virus were asymptomatic
- 35% of people who transmit the virus were pre-symptomatic
- 41% of people who transmit the virus were symptomatic
- 40-45% of infected people never develop symptoms.
The first five days after the infection is considered as a phase with the highest possibility of transmission. Considering this data, 59% of infections would be spread while no symptoms were present.
CDC also urges people to properly wear masks to break the chain of transmission that happens unnoticed, that would help in preventing at least half of the new infections.
