Schools extorting fees during lockdown should be punished: Rastriya Janamorcha
Kathmandu. The National People’s Front (Rastriya Janamorcha) issued a statement on Sunday that talked about school fees and child rights.
The spokesperson of the party, Durga Poudel demanded action against the private schools that have been extorting fees from the students during the lockdown, even though the educational facilities are not operated properly.
He also said that it was a good decision on the federal government’s part to give authority to the local levels on making decisions regarding the reopening of schools.
The party also demanded action against the perpetrators of violence against children, rape, sexual and labor exploitation.
The report released by the National Council for the Rights of the Child shows the rising graph for the number of rape and sexual violence against children.
According to the report, 1,393 girls were raped in the fiscal year 2076-77 BS. Of them, 25 girls had been gang-raped and 272 girls were under the age of ten . The report also revealed that five boys too had been sexually abused. (RSS)
