Chinese defense minister arriving today
Kathmandu. State Councilor and Defense Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wei Fenghe is paying a one-day official visit to Nepal on Sunday (today).
During the visit, Fenghe will pay courtesy calls on the President and the Prime Minister, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will also meet with Chief of Army Staff General Purna Chandra Thapa.
This is the first high-level visit from China to Nepal this year. The Chinese defense minister’s visit to Nepal amidst the ongoing pandemic shows that China has put Nepal-China relationship in top priority.
It has been learnt that the visit of the Chinese defense minister is more of a friendly gesture than a political or economic affair.
Fenghe is scheduled to return to China on Sunday evening.
