Kathmandu. 78 Nepali students in Japan have lost their residential permit. They had violated the Japanese regulation for students and worked more hours than allotted in the middle of their study period, which has disqualified them to continue their stay in Japan.
Okinawa Times has stated that the 78 students enrolled in the Urosoma Language School in Okinawa, Japan, would not be able to renew their residential permit.
According to the school, the Naha branch of the Fukuoka Regional Immigration Bureau has informed the students to leave Japan in three months time. It is the first time after the establishment of the school in 1986 that such an unfortunate situation has cropped up.
Out of the 142 student of the July intake last year, 78 will not be able to renew their residential permit now. They will not be eligible for a six-month extension facility as well, as they have already worked more than the legitimate hours prescribed for the students.
Foreign students in Japan can work part time only for 28 hours a week.
