Lalitpur. Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) has decided to open the schools after holding consultation with the chiefs of neighbouring municipalities and metropolitan cities.

Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan informed that they would discuss how the safety could be ensured to the students in the wake of Covid-19 and cold season. “I think it would be uniform to reopen schools after talking to the chiefs of municipalities and metropolises in the Kathmandu Valley.”

Undersecretary at Education Section of LMC Mahendra Bahadur Chhetri informed that the LMC would also hold discussion with parents and concerned experts. Mahalaxmi Municipality is still in high risk of coronavirus spread, so there is not atmosphere conducive to open schools.

Meanwhile, Godawari Municipality is all set to resume teaching learning activities by abiding by health protocol prepared by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Education section chief in the municipality Devi Prasad Upadhyay said, “In the schools having relatively fewer students, the students will be asked to use mask, sanitizers and maintain physical distances. In other schools having more number of students, alternative teaching methods would be adopted,” he added.

Similarly, the education committee meeting of the Bagmati Rural Municipality in Lalitpur has suggested the schools to reopen study by adopting practical measures, said education section chief Shes Kant Poudel.

However, Mahankal Rural Municipality is not in a condition to resume schools.

Kojyosom Rural Municipality has resumed the teaching-learning activities based on the number of students and availability of rooms, according to education section chief Bishnu Prasad Acharya. (RSS)
