New map of the universe readied for virtual tour
Kathmandu. Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation has announced that its astronomers have drawn a map of almost 3 million galaxies using the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope.

About one of the 3 million galaxies are never known to mankind. These galaxies which were never seen before were captured in a large photo of the southern sky, made by stitching 903 images taken from the Australian radio telescope in a record-breaking time of 300 hours.
Experts around the world are celebrating the unlocked possibilities of discovering age-old mysteries of deep space such as black holes ‘dynamics and interaction.
The team of the Rapid ASKAP Continuum Survey has expressed their expectations to map millions of new galaxies in future surveys.
