Police officers suspended for professional misconduct
Kathmandu. The Home Ministry has suspended three officers of the Nepal Police as they were found to abuse authority for economic benefits.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Bimal Basnet and Rameshwor Prasad Yadavand Police Inspector Meghraj Prasad Chaurasiya have been suspended for their unprofessional activities. All three have been accused of carrying unprofessional activities during their posting at the Karnali Province Traffic Office in the past.
Yadav is currently the Spokesperson of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Basnet is deputed at Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari and Chaurasiya at Area Police Office, Kapilkot, Sindhuli. They have been suspended for six months. Police Spokesperson, Basanta Bahadur Kunwar informed National News Agency (RSS) that a secretary-level decision of the Ministry on Tuesday had taken the decision.
SP Yadav was at Province Traffic Office, Surkhet till four months back. SP Basnet was at the office prior to him. A complaint had been received by the secretariat of the the Inspector General of Police alleging them of collecting money from almost all traffic offices of the province, acting upon which the investigation was carried.
