Australia loses respectable 1-2 to India with last match win in T20 series
Kathmandu. Australia was able to defeat guest India in the third and the last T20 match of the series today. In the match played in Sydney, India lost to the host team by 12 runs.
India chased the score of 187 runs set by Australia but could only score 174 runs in full 20 overs losing seven wickets.
The Indian batsmen could not perform well besides skipper Virat Kohli today. Kohli hit 85 runs in 61 balls with four 4s and three 6s. Opener Shikhar Dhawan scored 28 and Hardik Pandya scored 20 runs. Australian Mitchell Swepson took three wickets.
India had offered the host team the chance to bat first after winning the toss. Australia lost five wickets in 20 overs and made 186 runs. Two Australian batsmen played half-entury inning. Matthew Wade hit 80 while Glenn Maxwell made 54, Steve Smith followed with 24 runs in the score chart.
Washington Sundar of India took two wickets, whereas, T Natarajan and Yuzvendra Chahal had one each.
Australia had already lost the three-match T20 series to India. Today’s win made it a respectable 2-1, a face saving for the host.
